From cobblestones to California: performance dog rainwear

This brand began on rain-slick cobblestones in Amsterdam, a city where it rains more than 180 days a year. As a designer and devoted dog mom, I learned fast: wet dog walks weren’t just inconvenient, they were inefficient.

The market was full of dog raincoats that promised style or function, but never both. So I designed Mono, a modular dog raincoat, and Duo, the removable belly wrap — a two-part system built for quick, clean exits. Fast on. Faster off.

The goal was simple: create a solution to the endless friction of dressing, drying, cleaning. On repeat. No overengineering. No instruction manual. Just a modular, minimalist system; sleek, flexible, and intuitive. Tailored to move, respectful of anatomy, and built for daily mess, accessible for kids, seniors, tripods, and the everyday dog.

The first Mono dog raincoat prototype was handmade on my living room floor in Amsterdam. That model became the blueprint — a high-performance modular raincoat born from need, rooted in real weather, now sewn in California with global materials.

Image to impact

While living in Amsterdam, I visited the annual World Press Photo Exhibition at Nieuwe Kerk — the global competition that showcases the world’s most powerful photojournalism. One image stopped me in my tracks: “Living Among What’s Left Behind” by Mário Cruz, which won 3rd prize in the Environment category.

It wasn’t just a photograph; it was a mirror held up to the world’s waste. Some communities carry the full weight of global pollution, while others barely see it.

That moment defined two priorities: sourcing eco-conscious materials for our modular dog raincoat, to cut our pawprint, and designing inclusive dog apparel. By accessibility, we mean dog rainwear that’s easy to handle for kids, seniors, and people with disabilities, while offering flexible comfort for dogs across breeds, and mobility needs.

That ethos carries through every stitch in the Mono dog raincoat and Duo belly wrap.
